SendSafely’s new ticket trigger functionality extends our integration capabilities with Zendesk by allowing you to update access to SendSafely packages in response to Zendesk ticket events.

Using this new feature, you can configure a variety of trigger actions including:

Using triggers to update access in SendSafely allows you to grant and revoke authorization in a smooth and seamless fashion, limiting access to sensitive data to the minimum number of users necessary.

This new feature is deployed as a self-hosted AWS Lambda Function, called by webhook from any Zendesk trigger. For example, you may choose to invoke this Lambda when a ticket is closed, when a new agent is assigned to a ticket, or when some other property of the ticket changes. The Lambda currently supports the below actions, and can also be modified to add and remove package recipients on an ad hoc basis.

This new AWS Lambda function is deployed via a CloudFormation template. In Zendesk, simply configure a webhook event that is invoked by a Zendesk trigger. For more information on set up and configuration, please see this article.

SendSafely for Zendesk is available on the SendSafely Business and Enterprise plans. For more information, contact success@sendsafely.com.

Frequently asked questions

How can I revoke access to SendSafely files when a Zendesk ticket is closed?

Configure a Zendesk trigger that calls SendSafely’s self-hosted AWS Lambda function by webhook when the ticket closes. The Lambda’s revoke action removes all recipients, including contact groups, from every SendSafely package belonging to that ticket.

How is the SendSafely Zendesk trigger integration deployed?

It is deployed as a self-hosted AWS Lambda function using a CloudFormation template. In Zendesk, you configure a webhook that a Zendesk trigger invokes, such as when a ticket is closed or reassigned.

What package actions can Zendesk triggers perform in SendSafely?

The Lambda supports revoking all package access, adding a user, adding cc’d users, adding followers, adding an enterprise or personal contact group, and deleting all packages for a ticket. It can also be modified to add or remove recipients ad hoc.

Can SendSafely automatically give ticket CCs and followers access to package files?

Yes. Using the Zendesk trigger integration, you can add all users cc’d on a ticket, or all of the ticket’s followers, to each SendSafely package belonging to that ticket as they are added in Zendesk. See the Zendesk integration.

Why sync SendSafely access with Zendesk ticket events?

Syncing access with ticket events lets you grant and revoke authorization automatically, so sensitive files are available only to the minimum number of users necessary, for example removing a previous agent when a ticket is reassigned.
