Frequently asked questions

Can SendSafely automatically delete old files from a Workspace?

Yes. With Workspace File Expiration, Owners and Managers set a retention period in days, and files older than that threshold are deleted automatically. Learn about Workspaces.

How do I turn on file expiration for a SendSafely Workspace?

Open Workspace Settings, toggle on file expiration, and choose the retention period in days. Expiration is enabled per Workspace by its Owners or Managers.

How often does SendSafely check for expired Workspace files?

SendSafely checks every day on a rolling 24-hour basis for files whose Added on timestamp exceeds the retention limit you set.

What happens to older versions of a file when it expires?

All versions of an expired file are deleted together. Expiration is based on the date of the file’s most recent update.

Are Workspace file expiration deletions logged?

Yes. Enabling, disabling, or changing expiration settings, and every automatic file deletion, is recorded in the Workspace Activity log, providing an audit trail for compliance.
