Automated User Provisioning with SCIM

SCIM, which stands for System for Cross-domain Identity Management, is an open standard that facilitates automated account creation and de-provisioning in applications that use single sign-on. SendSafely is rolling out SCIM support for enterprise customers using SAML based single sign-on (SSO). Native SCIM integration is now available for Okta customers, with support for additional SSO providers coming soon.

You can enable SCIM for Okta from the Provisioning tab in the Okta admin console. The following provisioning features are supported:

Frequently asked questions

Does SendSafely support SCIM user provisioning?

Yes. SendSafely supports SCIM provisioning for customers using SAML single sign-on, with native integrations for Okta and Microsoft Entra ID, covering user provisioning, deprovisioning, and admin-rights management.

How do I enable SCIM for SendSafely in Okta?

SCIM is enabled from the Provisioning tab in the Okta admin console for the SendSafely application. SendSafely publishes a Help Center article with step-by-step instructions, and customers can contact support for help configuring it.

What happens when a user is assigned to SendSafely in Okta?

Users assigned to the SendSafely application in Okta are automatically created and registered in your SendSafely enterprise portal. They can then log in with the Login using Single Sign-on button on the portal login page or from the SendSafely tile on their Okta home screen.

What happens to a SendSafely account when the user is deactivated in Okta?

Deactivating the user, or removing their access to the SendSafely application in Okta, deactivates their SendSafely account. When SCIM provisioning was introduced in 2019, deactivation removed the user’s profile data and deleted all files and messages from their history.
