DC2Vue gets the right health information to the right person at the right time.

Data Capture Experts (DCE) is a leading healthcare software provider in Australia. Their flagship digital health platform, DC2Vue, offers robust and scalable technology for hospitals, community health, and mental health providers — streamlining clinical workflows and ensuring compliance with strict regulatory standards.

Using SendSafely enabled DC2Vue to continue to enhance efficiency and quality in healthcare by leveraging the lowest common technology denominator between patients and providers — an email address and a browser.

The challenge

Secure delivery using the lowest common denominator: an email address and a browser.

To coordinate transfers of care, providers exchange discharge summaries, referrals and specialist letters. Standard protocols are built into Electronic Health Record systems, but not every health professional has secure messaging capability. For those cases the practical channel is email and a browser — protected against the inherent insecurities of both.

Patients need much of the same information. Patient portals are poorly adopted; a large cohort of healthy patients will not manage an account for every provider they see. They prefer secure, ad hoc delivery straight to their inbox, with no account creation required.

The requirement

Provider-to-provider and provider-to-patient communication, embedded in the EHR, with delivery tracking strong enough to satisfy Australian discharge regulations.

The solution

One API integration, four clinical workflows

DCE integrated the SendSafely API into their core EHR platform. The result is a seamless provider experience when creating and sending secure communications, and hassle-free receipt on the other end.

  1. Workflow 01
    Discharge Summaries

Hospitals configure custom email templates that are bundled into a SendSafely package inside the EHR. Patients receive a secure link, authenticate with a one-time pin code, and open the package in any modern browser. Packages expire automatically after a predefined number of hours.

  2. Workflow 02
    Delivery Tracking

Australian regulation requires discharge summaries within 48 hours with strict delivery tracking. A SendSafely read receipt feeds back into DC2Vue and a colour-coding system shows pickup. Providers now know who opened the file, where, and how many times — not just that it was “transported”.

  3. Workflow 03
    Outbound Referrals

Providers refer patients entirely within the EHR: pick an allied health professional, select the clinical information to share, and click send. Behind the scenes the SendSafely API creates the secure package and delivers it to the referred provider.

  4. Workflow 04
    Inbound Referrals

A SendSafely Dropzone serves as the inbound referral channel integrated into DC2Vue, giving external providers a secure file drop that needs nothing more than a browser.

The impact

Better information, less friction.

Time With Patients

Staff create and receive secure messages with one click and never leave the EHR, returning time to high-value clinical work.

No Accounts

Patients open discharge summaries with an email address and a browser — on desktop or mobile, without passwords to reset.

Reliability

The performance of the SendSafely API meets and exceeds the rigorous demands of the healthcare ecosystem.

“Providers need the right data, at the right time, in the right place to make informed decisions — regardless of their technology profile or secure messaging capabilities.”
